At the start of the semester, I thought Art was anyway a human can be creative. I saw everything in the world as art, the way a wooden table was carved, cars, street signs, houses, everything! All those things take time to be perfected and are very appealing to my eyes and that’s what art was/is to me.

I would say my ideas have slightly changed. I was able to create lots of art myself, and especially virtually which I never thought much about before. I connected with a community on Fortnite and that was my art project. It was nice making art from my laptop. I always saw art as something you can physically touch and not make online.

At the end of the semester, I still see art the same way, this time with even more possibilities of creating art using the internet. I will always make sure to continue to create art weekly in my life because it was a nice way to do work that didn’t cause me stress, I was able to just go with the flow and my mind and body responded well to that.

I’m a biology major, who would like to pursue a career in medicine. This major takes hours of studying and memorizing things. We have to know a lot about the human body, and the different systems of life. The best way to enjoy studying is to draw diagrams and create very colorful and artistic notes. I like to use a lot of arrows and swirly lines in my notes to make things pop. This class helped me enjoy art even more and allowed me to have a little stress free break from my other science-heavy classes. I will utilize art always in my career as a way to relieve stress and relax my mind.

I love to travel, I hope when COVID is under control I will have the chance to visit different countries in the world and see the artwork there. I’ve always enjoyed seeing other countries’ lifestyles and I always came back from those trips feeling very enriched and thankful. I felt like a better human being that was able to come back home and go on with my life with more knowledge and understanding of the world.

Art matters so much the world would be so dull without it. People need art to be creative and not take life too seriously. They need art to learn more about life and get a better understanding of themselves and what they like.

I agree with the slogan of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) “a great nation deserves great art” because art is what makes a place. You walk into a room and the first thing you notice is the way the interior looks. That affects your feelings and gives you an idea of what you might expect of the place you are at.

I’ve experienced creating art and being able to share my work virtually. I wasn’t able to show someone my art face-to-face and that was a different experience. However, it wasn’t too bad since we were able to explain our ideas on our medium post which made up for it. Art will always be a part of my life and career as I move forward, and I am excited to see the many different pieces of art the world has to offer for me.
